After a 3-1 win over South United on Saturday night, they backed up on Sunday to account for Olympians 6-3.
Captain Katrina Rekunow said it was good to pick up the two wins and thought they played well both games.
Against Souths she said they moved the ball around well, and really tried to use their width and elongate the Souths defence.
It worked well for them and created a lot of chances. Not that they were always able to take them.
“We were dangerous in the circle but couldn’t seem to put the ball in the back of the net,” she said.
On Sunday they scored early.
“I thought we played reasonably well for having two games,” Rekunow said.
“We had a couple of extra subs, which helped.”
She said Tahlia Rekunow, in an attacking midfield role, was good in both games, as was Abigail Doolan.
Nicole Reid-Smith was also strong up front while Tayla King worked well with Doolan in the midfield.
Olympians coach Andrew Farmilo was “pretty happy” with his sides performance.
“We possessed the ball well and our structure was good,” he said.
Their downfall was their inability to take their chances.
“We had some good scoring chances but couldn’t get the ball in the net,” he said.
- Following the weekend’s state championships in Armidale, New England’s Tyler McCann and Hayden Schumacher, and Tamworth’s Tom Littlejohns have been named in the U13 boys state squad.
