Alan Jones of BlueChilli, a Sydney-based startup innovation group, will share his knowledge on the resources needed for a successful start-up community to flourish.
UNE SMART Region Incubator and Tamworth Business Chamber are teaming up to host the talks.
The event will be held at 5.30pm Thursday in the UNE Tamworth Centre on Fitzroy St, and registrations are still open at www.smartri.com.au/connect/events
The next day, Mr Jones will host a four-hour workshop on ideation, helping attendees uncover ways to sense-check their startup idea and formulate a plan for their next steps.
“I’m excited to be coming to Tamworth to foster the growth of innovative new industries in the region,” Mr Jones said.
“The New England region is well-placed to benefit from the economic and technology changes influencing the future direction of the global economy.
“You need less time, fewer people and less capital than ever before to commercialise an entrepreneur’s idea, or the intellectual property of a university research lab.
“I’m really looking forward to learning more about what’s being achieved in Tamworth and to share some of the ideas I’ve seen being explored in other markets.”
SMART Region Incubator co-ordinator Sue-Ellen Hogan said there was “a wealth of innovative and exciting ideas coming out the Tamworth region right now”.
"Having someone with Alan's experience and expertise in Tamworth will help would-be innovators and new business owners develop their fledgling idea or product into a commercial entity.”
