The Tamworth man officially marked his 101st birthday with friends and family at the Calala Inn on Saturday after a string of celebrations for his milestone.
“He had a combination of five parties so we didn’t put all the candles on the cake because he wouldn’t have enough breath to blow them all out after one another,” son David McDonald said.
“He’s outlasted us all, he just looks so young.”
Mr McDonald, who farmed around Loomberah, now lives on his own in Tamworth. His second home is the Tamworth City Bowling Club, where he was the first member to be conferred with the prestigious life membership last June when he turned 100.
Mr McDonald has two sons, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
