The four clubs were among eight selected to play in the curtain raisers as junior rugby across the state was celebrated, with many other clubs participating in the Junior Clubs March Past.
The Rams had 17 players travel down, with the U8s playing a 45-minute cross-field 7-a-side game against Alstonville Ruby Club.
They put forward an impressive game and coach Tony Groth was very happy with how the team performed on the night.
“The kids were very excited to playing at such a large stadium,” Groth said.
“They really stepped up to the challenged and performed very well. Overall the entire team performed above expectations and showed excellent sportsmanship.”
Barraba locals Dustin Hiscock and Jack Kelly both played particularly well, scoring a number of tries between them and defending very well.
The Barraba team was also comprised of four U8 girls who performed extremely well, making some great runs and confident tackles.
The excitement didn’t stop there however, with a number of Barraba’s U6 and U8 players accompanying the NSW Waratahs’ players as they ran out onto the field.
