All aspirants are eyeing off the May 6 final worth $2500 to the victor, but first they have to qualify for the big one.
Two heats will be run and won, with both looking like highly competitive affairs.
The first heat, being run at 3.10pm, is headlined by the star Gunnedah chaser Super Kadani.
A son of Superman, Super Kadani has won 11 of his 38 career starts, but comes off a surprise defeat on home soil.
Super Kadani also has to overcome box five in a race which features proven performers, headed by Donna Sins and Rival Glen.
Donna Sins, prepared at Singleton by Chris Eveleigh, is well-placed to make every post a winner from box two, directly alongside in-form Tamworth chaser Chosen Diamond.
Hayden Munn has done a great job with Chosen Diamond, who ran 26.69 over the 457m trip last Saturday.
The second heat, timed to jump at 3.30pm, features veteran Wybong greyhound Rival Houdini.
Trained by Kevin Smith, Rival Houdini has won 12 races and been minor placed another 33 times in 76 starts.
He is looking to qualify for the decider against after finishing sixth 12 months ago.
The most intriguing runner in the second heat is Foxy Tralee, a progressive daughter of Paw Licking, trained at Duri by Melanie Mabbott.
Foxy Tralee has had just the seven career starts, for three wins.
The heats feature on a strong 10-race card, with the first at 1.30pm and last at 4.30pm.
