Residents and councillors alike hit out at the sorry state of the East Tamworth avenue recently, calling for immediate action to tidy up overgrown grass, fallen branches and speed up the replacement of dying trees.
In a closed meeting on Tuesday night, councillors will appoint five locals to the King George V Ave working group “where they can voice their ideas, and also assist with the ongoing maintenance”.
The group, which will “enable community input into the administration” of the avenue’s conservation management plan, has been a long time in the making.
Council decided to form the group at a meeting in December last year and it has been seeking expressions of interest from locals since March 11.
