Event organiser Terry Robinson is jealous of the more than 170 people who have already registered for the event.
“It’s greatly frustrating, I’ve never actually been able to ride it because I’m busy organising it,” he said, laughing.
He’s hopeful some last minute registrations will push the number of riders up to about 250.
“We’re aiming to raise about $30,000 and that’s looking pretty positive,” he said.
All the money raised goes towards local charities Youth Insearch and the Banksia mental health unit.
There is a route for every level of cyclist: the escorted 15km, the short 25km, the medium 55km and the long 115km.
Mr Robinson said most people were option for the 155km and 55km ride, but anyone going on the escorted ride won’t be alone – it has a support car at the front and back of the convey, both with flashing lights, and an experienced rider leading it.
The event has a staggered started time at Moore Creek tennis club, with everyone getting back to the tennis club at roughly the same time.
“They’ll be greeted with a steak burger and a drink to refuel, which is included in the registration,”
“We’ll have some live music, so it will be a bit of a carnival atmosphere.”
Anyone who can’t get to the event, but wants to contribute to the cause can donate at the Pedal the Peel website.
“We’ve actually had a fair few donations from people throwing a few extra dollars in the tin when they register, which has been really good,” Mr Robinson said.
Pedal the Peel cycling shirts can also be purchased for $80 when registering.
“If you get them now they won’t be ready for Pedal the Peel, because they make them to your size, but they’re really great quality,” Mr Robinson said.
