And it would seem we’re also getting quite the reputation overseas.
Numbers obtained by The Leader have revealed an influx of international visitors to the Tamworth Regional Council area.
In the last financial year, 481,902 international visitor nights were recorded, which amounted to about 24 per cent of total visitor numbers.
While the Tamworth Country Music Festival might be our premier event, the latest travel reviews from website Trip Advisor indicate our visitors are enjoying a diverse range of attractions when they get here.
About 100,000 people visited the Tamworth Visitor Information Centre last year alone.
And as of this week, Trip Advisor members rated the Tamworth Marsupial Park as the top attraction in the area.
It leads the ‘top ten’ list that includes the Powerhouse Motorcycle Museum, the Australian Railway Monument and Journey’s Museum, along with the Powerstation Museum, Walk a Country Mile Museum, Tamworth Regional Playground and Australian Country Music Hall of Fame.
Council director of business and development John Sommerlad said Tamworth was continuing to make a name for itself.
“We have amazing attractions to keep families entertained, including the Tamworth Marsupial Park and Adventure Playground, The Big Golden Guitar and Tamworth Regional Playground,” he said.
“Our region offers many interesting attractions, such as paragliding at Mt Borah near Manilla, and the Nundle Woollen Mill, which has recently won a NSW Tourism Award and was acknowledged at the Australian Tourism Awards just last week.
“Our natural landscapes also attract visitors.
“We are lucky to be surrounded by beautiful National Parks and areas for families to get some relief from the warmer weather, including Chaffey Dam, Sheba Dam and Lake Keepit,” Mr Sommerlad said.
