“Everyone has been very generous. It will be an ongoing thing as it will take a while for people to get back on their feet,” Mr Avard said.
“I spoke to a co-ordinator over there and they are specifically chasing anyone who has got oats they can spare in bulka bags or in bulk to feed sheep.”
Mr Avard said the hay drive is still requiring the use of more trucks and drivers if anyone can help. A Gunnedah Shire Council truck and Shaw’s Transport were among a convoy trucking hay to the fire-stricken area this week. He said the next big issue is fencing the properties in the area, calling for donations of materials.
A donation drive to put “food on the table” for fire victims also kicked off in Gunnedah last week.
