Show society vice-president Max Schultz said gate takings were up about 12 per cent on last year, with many families arriving earlier in the day and staying on.
He said one of the most popular events was the V8 Trackskill Ute Show.
“It proved extremely popular, drawing large crowds around the ring for all four shows,” Mr Schultz said.
“The addition of a ‘jump and drive’ carriage event to the horse program was also popular.
“High temperatures did force the early closure of the poultry section due to possible heat stress on the birds.”
He said pavilion sections were strong, wool and sheep well-supported and the return of cattle welcomed.
“As is always the case, the Kentucky Station Woodchop with 40 competitors was surrounded by spectators.”
Mr Schultz said fireworks and the demolition derby finished off the 2017 show.
“We were extremely lucky, with a threatening storm missing us late in the evening,” he said.
Mr Schultz said the members for New England and Northern Tablelands, Barnaby Joyce and Adam Marshall respectively, attended the opening.
He said the show society was “extremely grateful for the support of volunteers, sponsors, entertainers and competitors all making the annual show possible”.
