“We’ve had a ripper of a carnival,” coach Ross White said.
“The girls have played some excellent water polo”.
Playing up in Division 1 the girls have picked up a win and a draw and had two competitive losses.
“We pushed one of the favourites (UNSW) in our first game,” White said.
It finished 12-4 in the end but it was only really in the last quarter they skipped away from them.
They then played out a 4-all draw with Cronulla Black, Lucy Hofman scoring with a minute to go to level things up.
Carrying that momentum they “put it all together” to punch out an 8-2 win over ACT in their first game on Friday before storming home in the last quarter to go down to UTS Balmain Tigers 8-7.
“We trailed 7-4 at the end of the third quarter,” White said.
“We just missed it in the last seconds too.
“We just couldn’t get the shot away to tie it all up.”
They’ve got Drummoyne in their final pool game on Saturday morning, but are with their results already looking like finishing fourth in their pool.
The combined Tamworth/Alstonville boys side have meanwhile had two losses and a win.
