Premier Gladys Berejiklian will make a “sporting infrastructure” announcement in the city and is also expected to visit the Tamworth CBD to take in the country music festival.
The Leader understands the premier will announce the state’s share of the funding for the sporting centre, near the Sports Dome.
Sports minister Stuart Ayres was due to meet with representatives from local sporting clubs including the local cycle group and athletics club this weekend to discuss the plans for a sporting centre of excellence but it’s expected the premier and deputy, John Barilaro will make the trip.
The visit by the new premier is her first regional visit since taking on the top job.
