Fittler and Johns will be joined by three current NRL players Latrell Mitchell, Joel Thompson and Connor Watson on the trip.
The NRL greats are providing a special rugby league training and cultural experience for a group of the most promising indigenous junior players in Northern NSW.
The 28-man squad, aged 16-18, will come together on Sunday for a two-day camp at the University of New England’s Armidale campus as part of NSWRL’s Pathways Program, where they will be put through a series of tests, cultural workshops and on-field positional skills training sessions.
New South Wales Rugby League coaching analyst Matt Parish said the camp holds major importance.
“It is a great opportunity for these boys to work with some of their past and current heroes and experience the same Origin Pathways Program that NSWRL runs for elite teenagers at Narrabeen,” Parish said.
