Country Rugby League officials on Wednesday announced competitions in the North West, Group 21 and Central Coast are being established for this year.
The success of inaugural tournaments in Newcastle, Dubbo and Illawarra in 2016 sparked the expansion of the popular game.
Tamworth, Armidale and Tingha come under the North West banner, with Group 21 including Scone, Muswellbrook, Aberdeen and Singleton.
North West’s competition for the aged and under-17 groups starts on February 4, one day after the Group 21 league gets underway.
The CRL Women’s 9’s see teams play short, fast-paced games on a full-sized field.
Country Rugby League female participation officer Kylie Hilder believes the announcement of the new competitions is testament to the continued growth of Women’s rugby league across regional areas of the state.
“The initial competitions in Dubbo, Newcastle and the Illawarra were very successful and we’re really excited to see the Central Coast, North West and Group 21 host competitions in 2017,” Hilder said.
“The CRL 9’s is all about having fun and getting an opportunity to play Rugby League with your friends in an enjoyable environment.”
The six- week competitions kick-off with a ‘Come and Try’ skills session, followed by five weeks of games.
