Hidden Treasures is an annual award that recognises the outstanding efforts of women volunteers in rural communities.
This year two members of the NSW State Emergency Service Namoi Region, Vicki Blinman (Manilla SES Local Controller) and Robyn Styles (Tambar Springs Deputy Unit Controller) have been added to the Honour Roll for 2017.
Robyn started volunteering with the NSW SES when she was 14 and has been with the organisation for more than 15 years.
Robyn is also a valued community first responder member, providing medical assistance in her local community until paramedics arrive.
Vicki has also been an SES volunteer for over 15 years and follows in her father’s footsteps as the Manilla SES Controller.
She is a senior member of the training management team and travels to train others throughout the Namoi Region.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said through her leadership and drive she has been responsible for increasing the number of volunteers at the Manilla Unit, which is in contrast to many country units and has a strong youth representation.
“Both Vicki and Robyn have made invaluable contributions to their communities,” Mr Anderson said.
NSW SES Namoi Region Controller Mr Andrew Galvin said; “it was wonderful that the contribution of these two volunteers was able to be recognised”.
