Steve Eales and the Open Road will perform at the Tamworth Capitol Theatre on Friday, January 27, from 8pm.
The event will double as the launch of their new album, with Eales himself promising a show to remember.
“Whenever we put on a show, our aim is for people to be talking about it for the rest of the year,” he said.
“We want it to be the most exciting, fun and extravagant kind of show and we want it to be the most talked about.”
Eales said the show will feature songs from Sovereign, along with some on stage antics and “ a little bit of theatre as well”.
“There’s seven albums to draw on, with plenty of songs plus we always throw in some of the favourite covers like good old Slim Dusty, Alan Jackson and Johnny Cash.
“People love to hear the old familiar songs - we are absolutely pumped.”
Eales described the type of music he plays with The Open Road as “really live and organic”.
“The songs can sound completely different this time, to last time,” he said.
“When we decided to do an album launch in Tamworth, we were looking at different ways of doing it and miraculously one of the best nights at the Festival in one of the best venues popped up.
“Tamworth is home, it’s where the young artists come aspiring and get recognised and where long standing artists keep coming back to.”
