With an album that was crowd funded and independently produced, Lumsden was overwhelmed to be announced in the running for the highly coveted 2017 awards.
"Our year has been huge, the biggest one we've had. We've racked up 60,000km in the car, driving everywhere."
Lumsden said she owes part of her success to the community that have helped support the record.
"It's amazing that this record that we crowd-funded has got so much support within the community, I love that.
"If you believe in what you're doing enough - and are open and sharing your story and are going out and just supporting others and others support you back - I think it just says that community is so important.
"We would never have made it anywhere without our community and the wider music community in Australia.
"All those little communities we played to in the country halls, we'd be nowhere without them.
"Just give it a go and work with everyone around you."
Lumsden will perform at a country halls inspired pop up show, with a surprise location along with some extra gigs lined up including supporting Colin Buchanan.
