The "Tamworth Aquatic Centre" does need to be built. These facilities are such a great asset for other towns which aren't even as big as Tamworth, i.e. Forster, Taree, Kalgoorlie etc, and some even include two pools, basketball court and small gymnasium room. We all need to get behind and support everyone pushing for this. The Longyard area may not even be the right location, but certainly wouldn't look out of place there.

This has been dragging on for 15 years! A site was selected, core drilling done, several LONG ESTABLISHED Aquatic Centres visited, plans drawn up ....it was just a matter of waiting until funds (Councils are limited to how much they are ALLOWED to borrow), advice was 2 years & it would be go....HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars invested & then came amalgamation!!!! STILL DESPERATELY NEEDED!!!!!

Well overdue, a much needed facility, to be able to have training all year round if we want our local children to have any chance of being world class, just like hockey.

Yes! An indoor 50m aquatic facility would be fantastic for Tamworth. Wish we had such a thing when we were swimming 25 plus years ago. Would have been so much better than the Workies club!
Not only swim clubs benefit, learn to swim all year round, hydrotherapy and aqua fitness classes, water polo, diving. And just a facility for anyone to come and use. Give people a great facility and they will use it. Aids in sense of belonging to a community, general fitness and staying active. Yes!
