Ransack provided the first leg taking out the opening race of the day – the Jean Margaret Macdonald Memorial Maiden Plate (950m).
My Dubleo Boy then scored a two length win in the Ray Kelly Fitness and Kelly Family Benchmark 45 Handicap (1350m).
Grills’ husband John was on duty at Wallabadah, with Sue up in Inverell where Military Duke won the R.L Moses Class 1 Handicap (1400m), and said Ransack’s win was “impressive”.
“She won by five or sixth lengths,” he said.
Six to be exact from Half Penny with Mimzar Girl another 13 ¾ lengths away third.
“She was overdue for a win,” Grills said.
Her last was back in March 2015.
After leading up the climb, My Dubleo Boy then got a nice run on the inside heading into the straight to beat home Agedashi and Stargrill Boy and follow a second at Quirindi on Boxing Day.
“He’s a good little horse and well ridden by Serg,” Grills said.
“He rode him very well out of the barriers and maintained his position.”
His only real instruction to Lisnyy was to be positive.
“I just left it up to Serg,” he said.
“I said be positive.
“You can’t get back on this track.”
Grills then saddled up Brave Maiden in the feature Wallabadah Cup, but after doing the hard work out in front for most of the race, the favourite had to settle for third behind last years winner Classic Attitude and Delagos.
