Locals and tenants of social housing working with Tamworth Regional Council helped “bring back the spark” to Granny Munro Park across November and December to add a new handball court, picnic tables, shelters and make repairs to the cricket nets and park furniture.
Tamworth Family Support Service (TFSS) joined with Winanga-Li from Gunnedah to host a barbecue in the park to celebrate the works.
Former NRL stars Nathan Merritt and Brad Tighe joined the festivities Tamworth provided entertainment with Street Warriors, DJ Encore and Scotty Troutman.
Funds to rejuvenate Granny Munro Park were sourced through the social housing community fund granted to TFSS.
