Constable Adam Gersback and police dog ‘Johnno’ have become familiar faces on the police beat in Tamworth as well as across the New England and Barwon command where they have been called to back up frontline officers in emergencies or policing operations.
On Friday, the pair were part of five teams of handlers and canines who graduated in an official ceremony in Goulburn with the latest round of recruits.
Constable Gersback and police dog Johnno have been based in Tamworth since the end of 2015.
“I hope they find the experience of serving the community as rewarding as I do,” Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said.
The position was created by the force after a community campaign, including a signature that garnered thousands of signatures for more policing resources, spearheaded by locals.
