A group of 41 kindy students toured the Tamworth chopper base, with staff on hand to teach the youngsters all about the helicopter’s vital role in the community.
Kindergarten teacher Sue Klingsch said the students were able to meet the pilot, doctor and paramedic at the base.
The students also participated in a role-play scenario which the chopper would usually respond, which Mrs Klinsch said gave the children a better idea of the helicopter’s job.
“It’s a very well-run excursion and it’s great to be able to visit the base,” she said.
“The children came back and wrote a report about their experience.”
