Brave Danny is about a little boy who speaks up after realising the violence in his home isn’t acceptable.
National Rural Women’s Coalition treasurer Alwyn Friedersdorff said the group thought the book was important for rural families.
“We look after rural women, and we hear lots of stories of women and families in distress with domestic violence creeping in. Because of the drought, the fires, the floods, the disasters that we’re having and the very difficult times in the bush, people lose that ability under stress to cope properly, and that’s where domestic violence rears its ugly head.”
