The unlocked Honda CRV was stolen from a Susanne St home and was spotted by patrolling police about 12.35am in Warral Rd.
Officers launched a pursuit when the car sped off, but it was called off for safety reasons when it went through a give way sign without stopping.
The driver jumped from the moving car which then crashed into the front yard of a Cole Rd home.
Police gave chase but the driver got away. Officers said a wallet was stolen from the car and bank cards were used in several transactions at service stations and a fast food outlet overnight.
Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the shops in a bid to identify any suspects involved in the theft.
The Honda was towed for forensic examination.
