Albion was dismissed for 100 as Mack brothers Andy and James were missing, before Mornington fell away sharply after reaching 2-42.
Damien Baldwin was Albion’s standout batsman with 35, while Tariq Habib was the pick of Mornington’s bowlers with 4-25 from 11 overs. Prashanth van Houten had 3-17 from 12 overs while Trent Lumby had 3-16 from three overs.
Andrew George bowled Mornington’s openers to have Mornington 2-19, before the run-out of Habib for 17 was crucial as it made the score 4-51.
Izaak Merlehan captured a wicket in each of his overs from nine to 12 as he snared 4-26, and Baldwin chipped in with a wicket before Luke Ryan nabbed the last two.
Stand-in Albion skipper Jamie Eveleigh considered a total around 100 was something to bowl at, considering the conditions.
“(It was) pretty wet first up,” Eveleigh said.
“Whoever won the toss was going to field.”
Eveleigh wasn’t too concerned about Albion’s batting as he deemed that the batsmen “toughed it out pretty well” while Baldwin “played very well”.
