On Thursday morning, keys were stolen from a manager’s residence at a Marius St hotel before thieves ransacked the office and stole a phone and cash.
A Chelmsford St home was broken into about 9pm on Wednesday when offenders gained entry through an unlocked door.
The resident gave chase but thieves fled with a wallet and cash, while an Iona Pl home was broken into the same day and a handbag, wallet, cash and gift vouchers was taken.
Oxley Acting Superintendent Kylie Endemi said police were investigating any possible links but warned residents to lock-up.
“Police have received reports of break-and-enters where offenders have gained entry through unlocked doors, and entered through first floor balcony doors, or small windows,” she said.
“Especially with the warmer weather, we urge residents that windows and doors should be secured at all times, even when someone is home.”
Earlier this week, two homes in South Tamworth reported unknown men knocking at their door to ask to use the phone or get a glass of water. In both incidents, the residents discovered goods like handbags and cash stolen from their home.
And between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, thieves cut the mesh of a back screen door to an Ebony Cl home and stole a woman’s purse and and a man’s wallet, while a handbag, cash, keys, a mobile and other goods were stolen when offenders entered a first floor balcony in The Mews.
A Ford Territory was also stolen during a break-in at a Church St home, along with a phone, wallet and keys. The car was later recovered damaged in a park off MacGregor St and had to be towed. The resident’s Church St neighbours also fell victim with goods stolen at the same time.
“We urge residents to secure their homes and cars, and don’t leave valuables lying around,” Acting Superintendent Endemi said.
