But it’s unknown whether Moonbi, Kootingal or Bendemeer will host the session or whether council will hold the meeting after Hunter New England Health’s expert panel delivers its findings on the raised uranium levels.
Kootingal-based councillor Phil Betts said TRC “owed it to the community” to share whatever information council could provide and use it as an opportunity to take any further community concerns back to Hunter New England Health.
Cr Betts said council had been on the front-foot with the issue and said there were “numerous councils in NSW, in granite country, that are not testing for uranium in their water”.
Council may hold two meetings, firstly to gather community concern and then to provide the health department’s expert panel findings.
