The freelance journalist will go under the clippers at a trivia night she’s organising to benefit the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
She said it was a longstanding, very worthwhile charity – and one her brother had benefited from when he was flown in a medical transfer from Tamworth to Newcastle in the early 2000s.
True to Mrs Belt’s passion for country music, the event will have a real country flavour. Singer-songwriter Brendan Nawrocki will entertain, and the trivia mix will include questions from Bushells tea bag tags.
Her freshly chopped ponytails will be sent to Variety to be made into wigs for kids with alopecia.
Mrs Belt did a headshave at Relay for Life five years ago, and her hair has grown more than 10cm a year since. “I’m thinking of becoming a hair farmer,” she laughs.
The event will be on October 29 at 6pm at Southgate Inn. Call 0427 232 591.
