The group provides approved child care in the family day care educator’s own home.
Family day care educators are early childhood education and care professionals, registered with Tamworth Family Day Care.
The Coordination Unit staff are the initial point of contact for advice and information about family day care.
They take into account diversity of family, language, culture and ensure the right fit between children, educators and their respective families.
Recently one of the group’s educators – Shauna Dewhurst – was the regional winner of the 2016 Excellence in Family Day Care Award, for Tamworth and the North West.
The benefits of Tamworth Family Day Care include:
- Excellent co-ordination and a mobile telephone available 24 hours/7 days a week linking educators and families to the coordination unit for all your child care needs;
- Educators provide a home based setting ensuring a familiar, safe and secure learning environment, for the children;
- Educators work with small groups of no more than four children under school age. An educator may care for three additional school age children, outside of school hours;
- Family day care’s small group environment facilitates strong bonds and relationships with the child’s peers and significant adults, which promotes effective early learning and social development, for the child;
- Tamworth Family Day Care can offer care during standard hours, evenings, before/after school, during school holidays and in some cases overnight and weekends.
- Tamworth Family Day Care can provide education and care for children from babies to 13 years of age; offering the possibility for siblings to be cared for together, all in one location;
- The families choose the educator they want to use for education and care of their child; and
- Tamworth Family Day Care provides experiences which reflect the diversity of our community.
Educators work in partnership with a local coordination unit who provide regular visits to monitor the children’s progress and to provide support.
