But while is might have nearly a century behind it there’s nothing elderly or dated about this organisation which is the back bone of many rural communities.
With a new president, Annette Turner from White Cliff, at the helm determined to drive membership and lobby on rural issues at all levels of politics, its future is rosy as the jam on its famous scones.
“Our aims are as relevant today as when we started,” said Annette. “We are still a voice. We are lobbying politicians and telling them we have 10,000 members on the ground all over NSW. That’s 10,000 eyes and ears. We tell them we are a resource so use us.
“And when I see services in the bush shrink and move out towards the coast, I know we are more important than ever.”;
