This week the Ashley Reading-coached side will head down to Sydney to contest the State PSSA Knockout finals series. They won their spot in the final eight with a 20-13 win over Goonellabah Public at Lismore earlier this month.
“They were a really tall team but fast, but we had the lead the whole time,” Reading said.
Like it was in their Regional Final win over Ross Hill, their strong defence was a key to the win.
“Defence is what won it for us,” Reading said.
They particularly were effective outside the circle.
“We had a lot of outside defensive pressure and did stop them getting into the circle,” she said.
The side is made up of girls from Years 4, 5 and 6, and are looking good for next year with the majority of the side in Year 5.
“It’s been great. I’ve been very lucky to coach this group,” Reading said.
The finals will be played at Netball Central at Homebush and pit Hillvue against Belair in their quarter-final on Wednesday morning.
They will head down on Tuesday and will be on a high after winning the Tamworth netball 11/12A Division title on Saturday. Playing as the Peel Hillvue Hotshots they capped off an undefeated season with a 29-24 win over the Tamworth Souths Stars.
