Cr Pearce won the mayoral poll by a landslide taking out about 44 per cent of the number one votes.
Cr Pearce will take the reigns for a four-year term and he already has his sights on some major initiatives.
“During my campaign I really wanted to address a tourism strategy for our community and also to re-establish a business chamber,” Cr Pearce said.
“We have a number of jewels in our beautiful shire and we need to showcase them at the top level.”
Uralla recently escaped a four-way amalgamation with Armidale-Dumaresq, Guyra and Walcha, and Cr Pearce said the shire was ready to prove its credentials.
“We have to look at our action plan we submitted to the state government, through the Fit for the Future process. We need to address thing like our operating deficit, our asset management plans, our service delivery to customers,” he said.
