They were arrested and charged in May, 2013, but in a Sydney court on Tuesday, Cody Glen Morgan and Robert James Clement were sentenced for administering a nasal solution to 2013 Tamworth Cup winner, Prussian Secret.

Acting Judge Colin Charteris convicted Morgan of engaging in conduct that corrupts betting outcome of event, namely that he drenched thoroughbred Prussian Secret in the hours before the race to gain a betting windfall.

He placed Morgan on a good behaviour bond for 18 months and convicted him without further penalty for using that corrupt conduct knowledge that the horse had been treated, after he placed a $100 each-way bet on the 2013 Tamworth race. 

Morgan was also found guilty at a trial in Tamworth of entering into an agreement to treat Prussian Secret before the 2013 Gunnedah Cup, to corrupt the betting outcome of the race, with the intention of obtaining a financial advantage and on Tuesday was ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service.

On Tuesday afternoon, Acting Judge Charteris jailed Clement for his part for drenching Prussian Secret, but suspended the 12 month sentence.

For the charge of facilitating corrupt conduct in relation to a Tamworth harness race, Clement was ordered to perform 150 hours of community service.

Other matters were also taken into account in Tuesday’s sentence before Acting Judge Charteris imposed another community service order of 150 hours for possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm. Clement was also placed on an 18 month good behaviour bond for possessing an unauthorised firearm – both charges which stem from the police raid on his Bendemeer property in May, 2013. The pair were the first to be charged under race-fixing laws by Strike Force Trentbridge, an undercover operation by the State Crime Command.
