All Year 5 students displayed an outstanding amount of growth since their Year 3 testing and I would like to thank Mrs Danielle Seymour and Mrs Rebecca Dowe for their hard work and dedication in providing our students with Mathematics and English programs and initiatives that encouraged and assisted our students to achieve these results.
The Zone Athletics Carnival was attended by 13 of our students last Friday. I would like to congratulate these students for the outstanding sportsmanship, respect and responsibility that they displayed at the carnival.
With three students qualifying last year and 14 qualifying (one absent) this year, this was an enormous improvement in our students’ athletics skills.
Of particular note is Lindsey Ward’s result in winning the Senior Girls shotput with a throw of 7.54 metres. Lindsey will now compete in the Area Athletics Carnival in Tamworth on Friday 2nd of September, as will our relay team made up of Annie, Corey, Lindsey and Breeana. Congratulations and good luck!
Thank you to the Carroll Cash Cows P&C for feeding the competitors and their supporters on the day, raising yet more funds for our students.
Book Week is next week. Students are welcome to dress up as their favourite book character on Wednesday 24th of August for a parade during assembly (please note that assemblies are now every Wednesday at 2.30pm).
There is an opportunity for the Gunnedah Library to set up a mini Library in the school house in Carroll.
To ensure this is a service that is needed, there will be a short survey sent home and put up on the noticeboard at the Carroll Store.
This mini Library will be open one afternoon a week from 2pm – 4pm and there will be a wide range of resources available for borrowing from children’s picture books to adult fiction.
Our Open Day is set for Wednesday the 21st of September. Winanga-Li has offered to provide a BBQ, hot potatoes and slushies as well as a jumping castle.
The Rural Fire Service fire engine and fire fighters will join us, as will Ooranga Mobile Preschool with a craft activity and Bunnings with pot plant painting and seedling planting along with lots of other visitors and educational, hands on fun. Spread the word, everyone is welcome. Thank you Rebecca Hopkins, Relieving Principal.
