A 42-year-old man has spoken to Tamworth police after Sunday’s public appeal for information.
Oxley Inspector Matt French told The Leader the discharge appears to be accidental.
“A 42-year-old male attended Tamworth Police Station and assisted police with their inquiries,” he said.
“It appears there was an accidental discharge of a rifle on a Calala Ln property.”
On Saturday night a single shot struck the front of a Cambridge St home, near Goonoo Goonoo Rd.
Eight people were home at the time but no one was injured.
No charges have been laid at this stage and the man was released pending further investigations by police.
“The male’s firearm licence has been temporarily suspended and a number of firearms have been seized while investigations continue,” Inspector French said.
"Police would like to thank the public that came forward and assisted us with inquiries.”
