Alisha Belinda Talbot was denied release in an out-of-sessions bail hearing in Moree Local Court on Saturday morning charged with five offences stemming from Friday afternoon’s crash.
Talbot, 32, was arrested shortly after the crash off Florence St, near the intersection of Edward and Anne streets.
She was allegedly behind the wheel of a Holden Statesman that lost control on a corner, crashing into a Toyota Landcruiser utility and then a Subaru Forrester.
The 45-year-old man driving the Landcruiser was not injured, but paramedics were called to treat two men in the second car because of the impact of the crash.
“The driver, a 61-year-old man, and his male passenger were taken to Moree hospital with minor injuries but were released shortly after,” Barwon Inspector Martin Burke told The Leader.
“Police allege the accused decamped from the scene after the collision, and after a short foot pursuit, she was arrested.
“A passenger in the vehicle was also arrested, however, she was released without charge.”
The crash came minutes after a police pursuit through several Moree streets.
About 3pm, Moree police were patrolling Edward St when they signalled for the driver of the maroon Holden Statesman to stop for a random breath test.
Police allegedly initiated a pursuit when Talbot failed to stop, and reached speeds of up to 80km per hour in a 50km zone.
“The Moree Target Action Group were in a fully marked police car when the pursuit was instigated, and shortly after highway patrol officers joined the pursuit,” Inspector Burke said.
“The vehicle entered a grassed common area and that’s when the pursuit was terminated.”
Inspector Burke said police continued to patrol the area and minutes later the crash occurred.
"Police will allege in court the accused has never held a driver’s licence,” he said.
Talbot is charged with police pursuit not stop by driving dangerously, never licensed person drive vehicle on the road, negligent driving, not give particulars to other drivers and not give particulars to police.
All three vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
