The two PL heavyweights will play the curtain raiser to the Newcastle Jets-Central Coast Mariners Hyundai A-League trial match at Scully Park while the other four PL games will all be played Sunday.
The A-League trial is timed for a 4pm kickoff with the Mushies and Redmen providing the main pre-game entertainment.
It's a big game for the OVA Mushies too.
The reigning premiers bounced back to form with a 5-1 win over eight-man East Armidale last Saturday and lie third to a North Armidale side that leads the first and second grade PL competitions but also hopes to rebound from a 3-1 loss to second-placed Demon Knights last Saturday.
Newcastle Jets arrive in Tamworth today after conducting a Jets Play clinic at Muswellbrook yesterday and will have an open training session from 9.30am and then hold a Jets Play Clinic at Gipps Street from 4pm today. They will train again at Scully Park tomorrow (9.30am) in preparation for Saturday's clash with the Mariners.
* Meanwhile, Tamworth FC bounced back for a crucial win over North Companions in last Saturday's PL clash at Johnson Field.
The 3-nil win also won the Dan Haslam Cup back from their cross town rivals after strikes from Josh Bartlett, Beau Langenbaker and Kurt Barrow.
"It was a good tough win for us," said Tamworth FC manager Greg Bartlett.
"A lot of players played very well for us. Ross Price and Beau Langenbaker were great and Troy Osborne outstanding in goals.”
"North were good too but it was great to win the Dan Haslam Cup. Dan played for us as a senior, was a great young man."
Bartlett said Cameron potter had a good day, backing up from a second grade game where he scored two goals to play the second half.
"He and Andrew James did that, Andrew playing the first half of first grade after a full second grade game and Cameron the second half of first grade. "Hayden Davidson also played injured as well. It was also Ross's (Price) first game back from injury and he did play very well. It was just a real good solid game of football."
He's hoping his side can back it up this Sunday when they go to Narrabri to play Namoi United.
