The six-year-old daughter of Hidden Dragon won the Tim Bell Memorial (1000m), a race run in memory of former Narrabri and Tamworth jockey Tim Bell, who died tragically from a fall in a Singapore high rise last year.
Bell began his racing apprenticeship in Tamworth under Sue Grills.
His Narrabri family were in Brisbane for Saturday's $60,000 race, which became a cakewalk for Hidden Pearl. She has now won six of her 13 starts for more than $217,000 in prizemoney for Lockwood and nine owners, including Barraba's Trish and Phil White, Tamworth's Felicity and Andrew Penman, Barraba Jockey Club president Leon Cummins and Tracey Gibson.
"It was a very good win and great return,' Andrew Penman told The Leader on Tuesday.
"It was in honour of Timmie. His family were there and presented Bridgett (Grylls) with her jockey's trophy after the race."
Hidden Pearl is likely to start at Eagle Farm again in a fortnight, before heading to Sydney for the Group 3 Concorde at Rosehill and the Group 2 Shorts Handicap.
The Hunter and North West Racing Association attention turns to Tamworth and Inverell this week.
The IJC received 88 nominations for Saturday's meeting on Monday while the TJC received a massive 230 nominations for Friday's meeting, which is one of the new Showcase meetings where all eight races are worth $30,000. It is also Ladies Day, where the $30,000 Noelene Martin Memorial Benchmark 65 Handicap (1400m) is a feature.
On Tuesday, Gavin Groth's About Time, a recent Highway Handicap winner in Sydney, after winning the Curlews Cup at Gunnedah, received 58.5kg for Friday's feature at Tamworth. Equal topweight is the Lesley Jeffriess-trained Lonely Orphan, who was a fair seventh to Tears In Heaven in the Morther's Gift at Grafton. She shared 61kg with the Tas Morton-trained New Divide.
