Their lead candidate is Noel O'Brien, backed by Mitch Hanlon and Gerry Griffiths.
Mr O'Brien said he has over 13 years of experience in local government, including a stint as the mayor of Gunnedah in the 1990s.
"There's a lot of underlying social issues we've got to grapple with." Mr O'Brein told The Leader.
"Things like homelessness are key issues that need to be addressed.
"50 per cent of people living on the streets are un-diagnosed schizophrenics, that's a crisis."
With the endorsement of the Liberals, Mr O'Brien said a lot people would inevitably question the role of political parties in local government.
"The reality is you can do nothing without them, we can open doors."
It was a point fellow candidate, Tamworth engineer Gerry Griffiths said they wouldn't be underscoring.
"We can fall back on the bigger team, the Liberal team that provide us with some access and guidance on areas we need help on," Mr Griffiths said.
Mr Griffiths said he would be able to bring his skills as a consulting engineer to the table.
"In design, everything you do is about how can you improve things," he said.
The candidate also said the team wanted to bring "fairness across the whole Tamworth Regional Council".
Consulting surveyor, Mitch Hanlon, agreed "some parts are doing better than other parts".
Mr Hanlon said a key issue in his pursuit on a council spot would be ensuring growth would create sustainable opportunities into the future.
"We need to look at our growth rates, we need to look at increasing our university presence in Tamworth," he said.
"We need to develop policies that allow us to react in a positive way to the change in the workforce composition."
Nominations for council close on August 10.
