It was a bit of a game of two halves, with the Rams dominating the first half and leading 24-7 at the break, only for the Brumbies to fight back to within two points, with about 10 minutes to go.
Rams coach Nick Bomford was admittedly a bit nervous at that point. “I thought we were going to get diddled by a point again,” he said.
He thought they played really well in the first half, and held onto the ball well.They were also brilliant at the breakdown, snaffling a lot of turnovers. The scrum was also dominant, reflecting a strong performance all-round from the pack.
The second half was a different story. “We fell asleep for about 20 minutes,” he said. They gave away too many penalties at the breakdown and dropped off too many tackles. Fortunately they “came to life” again in the last 13 minutes.
