The 20-year-old is facing a string of charges after he was captured by police when he allegedly tried to flee the Mazda sedan when it crashed down an embankment, during the chase.
“Police will allege [the driver] was travelling in excess of twice the speed limit,” New England Inspector Chris McKinnon told The Leader.
“This type of behaviour was endangering the lives of members of the public, police and himself.
“Luckily, in this instance, no one was injured.”
It started when Uralla officers were called to reports of a vehicle doing burnouts and spotted the sedan about 8.25pm on Thursday, in Mehi Cr.
When police signalled for the vehicle to pull over, police allege the driver sped off, triggering a pursuit.
“Police allege the vehicle was travelling in excess of 100km per hour in a 50km an hour zone,” Inspector McKinnon said.
“The vehicle continued on Barleyfields Rd, northbound out of Uralla in excess of 140km per hour.”
The sedan then allegedly continued at high-speed onto the New England Highway and into Kliendienst Rd.
“The driver then turned into Rocky River Rd where he lost control of the vehicle and hit an embankment,” Inspector McKinnon said.
This type of behaviour was endangering the lives of members of the public, police and himself.

“He tried to run from the scene and was pursued by officers before he was arrested.”
Police said the man was not injured in the crash and was taken to Armidale Police Station where he was questioned by investigators.
He was charged with offences including Skye’s Law police pursuit, driving in a manner dangerous, driving whilst cancelled, driving an uninsured vehicle and an unregistered vehicle.
The 20-year-old was granted conditional bail and has been ordered to front Armidale Local Court in September.
