The nurse has transformed one of his great loves into a family business, offering locals a whole new way to have a ball.
Mr Ryan and his sister, Taylah Ryan, have launched Family Fun Zone 2340, an inflatable games business comprising all things fun, from bubble soccer, a jousting arena and wrecking ball to human dodgeball and slam dunk basketball.
The idea to bring inflatable fun to Tamworth came to Mr Ryan while he was playing bubble soccer in Sydney.
“I loved it, so I decided I would buy the equipment,” he said.
The duo purchased the equipment in February and have since spent time away from their other jobs to build the business.
The games were put to the test for the first time last week, with the business launching its school holiday program at Calrossy Anglican School’s William Cowper Campus.
“The kids and parents are getting in and having a go and they’re loving it,” Mr Ryan said.
“We’ve got all the equipment there.
“Our thing is, kids need to be kids, as long as they’re having fun, and that’s what it’s all about.”
Mr Ryan, a nurse of eight years, continues to work at a local aged care and retirement home.
As he splits his time between patients and patience running games, Mr Ryan hopes the family centred business will take off locally.
“Word of mouth is starting to take off,” he said.
“We’re hoping we can book another event next school holidays.”
Local residents are also singing its praises.
“I took my four-year-old yesterday and she had a ball, made her own fun with different things. Great value,” Alicia Perkins wrote on the business’s Facebook page.
“My one-year-old was also very excited to see everything so big!”
Renee Bush added it was a fun experience for both children and their parents.
“Well worth the money (and) will (definitely) go back,” her post stated.
