IN RESPONSE to Murray Armstrong’s letter (NDL, June 20), I can understand how the people of New England feel a rapport with Tony Windsor, however, it would be beneficial for them to realise that Barnaby Joyce has the interests of the New England and the country at heart.

He is Deputy Prime Minister, which is a fairly powerful position, I would think.
As such, he would have access to, and be able to argue for, funding which is much needed for the New England.
Barnaby Joyce has proved to date his dedication to the country and the New England on several occasions.
A voice to be heard is a very positive thing, but a powerful voice with a position such as that of Barnaby Joyce can only benefit the New England.
