NSW begin their three-game push towards qualifying for the Super Rugby finals with the Sunwolves game followed by the Hurricanes at home and then a final clash against the Blues in Auckland.

The Waratahs announced the signing of Naiyaravoro last month and the 24-year-old was used off the bench in the Wallabies' third Test loss to England in Sydney on Saturday.

Naiyaravoro has been playing for the Glasgow Warriors since leaving the Waratahs after chalking up 20 caps in 2014 and 2015.

He is available for the Waratahs' remaining three games but will be ineligible for the finals should NSW qualify because he was not in Australia before April 1.

Gibson said even though Naiyaravoro has put on some size since he left NSW, he was more than happy to give him a run on the wing in the place of Zac Guildford, who has now parted ways with the club.

"He's come back from Glasgow looking a bit bigger than what he left our shores but I'm looking forward to seeing him in action this week," Gibson said. "He's a different type of winger for us and he can do some damage.

"With Joe Tomane going overseas at the end of the year, Henry Speight playing sevens, Dane Haylett-Petty being tried as a winger, there's an opportunity for a winger to really come out of nowhere and nail down a spot."

Naiyaravoro said he wasn't a fan of Scotland's cold weather and explained his decision to come home was more for family reasons than anything else.

The 195cm speedster said his inclusion in the Wallabies squad for the England series came as a big surprise.

"It's awesome to be back with the Waratahs and back with Australia," Naiyaravoro said. "I didn't think I would be included in the series. When 'Cheik' called and asked I was really stoked and I was surprised. I was in Glasgow going through to the semi-finals and he asked if I was available for the series. I was really happy especially to be back as well.

"That's my goal now; just to get involved in this three weeks. It's a big opportunity to work hard again and try to get my performance up before the Rugby Championship and Spring Tour."

The Waratahs will be without Wycliff Palu for the Sunwolves fixture after he suffered nerve damage in a shoulder during the Wallabies' 44-40 loss to England on the weekend.

The dilemma will be who to pick at No.8 given Jed Holloway was ruled out for the season before the June Test window.

Jack Dempsey is an option given he has slotted in at the back of the scrum before.

Eleven Australian representatives returned to Waratahs training on Monday with a clear objective to get back in the winner's circle after being thumped 3-0 by Eddie Jones' England.

Gibson said he could sense the hunger from his star players to have a major impact in helping the Waratahs achieve the three wins they will likely need to qualify for the finals.

"Coming off a disappointment over the last few weeks they're keen to get stuck back into Super Rugby," Gibson said. "Our formula is pretty simple; we need to win three games to qualify through the conference system or potentially as a wildcard. They're all very keen to get up and running again. The best thing you can do after a disappointment is get back on the field."
