Of seven competition categories, Mick’s Meat House received three first places and a third, while Tim Rose, of Premier Meats, took out the gold four times, including the best butcher burger for the region.
The competition is conducted by the Australian Meat Industry Council’s Independent Local Butchers and judged by consumers and trade experts, who scrutinised the uncooked and cooked appearance of the sausages and burgers and taste-tested them for their flavour and texture.
Mick’s Meat house and Premier Meats will now join the first-place winners in each category across 18 regions at the state final being held in Bathurst on Saturday, September 24.
