First up were the secondary girls on Tuesday at the Tamworth Regional Sporting Complex, with a frosty start for the running of the 1500 metres.
That was followed by a great day of running, jumping and throwing with the girls showing great house spirit with every entry in every event earning house points.
The secondary girls athletics carnival also saw Calrossy's national champion make her return from injury.
Year 8 student Emma Klasen is the current 100 and 200 metre champ for All Schools Australia.
She made her return to racing and set a new school record for the 14-years girls 100 metre, after tearing her hamstring at the Perth Nationals in April.
It marks the start of a busy time for the Tamworth sprinter who has been selected in the under 15 National Little Athletics Squad which meets in September.
Selection for the squad is extremely competitive, with only 100 athletes across Australia from all disciplines selected.
As part of the squad she will spend a week at the Australian Institute of Sport and will be assigned a coach for monitor her training.
Needless to say, despite it being her first run back from training, Emma made it look easy in her sprints on Tuesday.
But she didn't have it all her own way, Sophie Hedley edging out Emma in a closely fought high jump.
On Wednesday the secondary boys hit the track and field.
It was a great day of sportsmanship and individual sporting efforts. One of the highlights of the day is the Top Gun, where the day's fastest sprinters take on each other regardless of their age.
This year reigning champ, Tyler Simshauser, lost his crown to year 9's, Mitch Clarke who clocked 11.86 seconds in the Top Gun.
Both Mitch and Tyler set new records for the 100 metre dash in their age races, with Mitch running a 11.69 in the 15-years boys and Tyler 11.60 in the 17-years.
On Friday, the rain held out for the primary athletics carnival, with students from Years 2 to 6 participating.
It was great to see the values of encouragement, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Calrossy will announce its Primary athletics age champions at an assembly on Friday.
In keeping with the tradition of helping the younger students, secondary boys assisted with the set-up, running and pack-up of the primary carnival.
The boys offered plenty of cheering and support to the younger students on the day.
