The Saints kept the Swans scoreless in the first term whilst kicking three goals, were almost as miserly in the second quarter, kicking four goals to one, and then continued the dominance in the third quarter with a 3-1 goal result.
The Swans did have something to celebrate when they won the fourth quarter in what was a 43-point success for the visitors.
“All in all, a cold and crappy day –beautiful football weather,” Saints coach Dick Gleeson said.
“Our boys were pretty good today.
“The Swans tried hard too.
“They were celebrating a 10 year reunion and Dean’s 250th game.
“We knew they’d want to play well but our boys were good.
“All in all on a big day for them (Swans), it was a good day for us.
“We did have a few out too.”
He said ruckman Chris Pay led from the front.
“He gave our boys first use of the ball all day,” he said.
“He did a real good job and Tommy Williams, Troy Dan and Andrew Schneider all played well too.”
Swans coach Paul Kelly was hoping for a better start.
“We did a lot of simple wrongs early,” Kelly said.
“They were a a lot better than us the first three quarters but we did play a lot better in that final quarter.
“They beat us by 50 points more up there in the first round so that was a little positive for us.”
Steve Fairless, Jayden Kennedy, Will Priest and skipper James Dunston, when moved up front, were best for the Swans, with Dunston kicking three goals.
At Narrabri’s Leitch Oval, New England Nomads kicked 14.16 100 to the Narrabri Eagles’ 4.7 31 and a 69-point win for the unbeaten competition leaders.
