I am pleased to see that the council has decided against that terrible idea and applaud their plan to open the land for more grave sites.
The whole area lends itself to creative landscaping.
There is a gully which could be cleaned out and enhanced with suitable plants and a couple of bridges crossing over.
A row of trees around the Dampier St border would help create a green space between the road and the cemetery.
Lastly, could some seating be provided in various spots in the new area, as well as the adjacent older area? If you have a loved one in the cemetery, it is actually a very comforting place to sit and
meditate.
