Darren Clarke, of Quirindi, has won the most prize money of any bareback bronc rider in Australia, and goes into the event at Moree as one of the favourites.
Wade Clifford hails from Gunnedah and is third in bareback standings in the Australian Professional Rodeo Association this season.
Clifford starts his rodeo weekend on Friday night at Collarenebri where there are 169 nominations.
Many of the same competitors are in fields of 171 at Moree, including two of the top cowgirls in the business, Wendy Caban, of Moree, and Teneille Clifford from Gunnedah.
Last weekend, Alton Downs cowboy Shane Iker was the major winner at the Nebo Rodeo.
He won the rope and tie, was third in steer wrestling and fourth in team roping with Ryley Gibb, of Charters Towers.
Iker is third in all around standings but moving closer to runner-up Terry Evison, of Nilma North, South Australia.
Victorian rough stock star Brad Pierce is more than $7000 in prize money ahead of Iker in the battle for the pro tour with seven months of the 2012-2013 season to go.
Other rough stock winners at Nebo were bull rider Stuart Frame, of Gracemere, and Wandoan saddle bronc rider Cameron Webster.
It was a successful weekend for Central Queensland cowboys with Emerald pair Clancy Middleton and Brody Moss winning the team roping and Andrew Jansen victorious in steer wrestling.
