The Year 12 17-year-old begins his training with the squad at a training camp at Narrabeen in Sydney from April 1-3.
The squad is for identification of potential Sevens players for the fast-growing sport.
Many players have gone from the Sevens program to Super Rugby to International representation including Adam Ashley-Cooper, Nick Phipps to name a few.
In December last year, Connor attended the National finals in Wagga and was selected from more than 400 boys’ candidates.
He was the only NSW Country squad member selected.
The April 1-3 training camp at the Academy of Sport at Narrabeen will be the first of two camps for 2016, with an additional camp and matches planned for later in the year for a final team of 12 players selected from camp and match performances.
Unfortunately, there is no Youth Commonwealth Games or Youth Olympic Games in 2016, however Australian Rugby is investigating opportunities for the team to play against international opposition and is currently awaiting responses from various countries.
When asked how he felt when he received the news Connor said: “I was shocked and excited at the same time”.
